n.56 Broad threat to humanity from cumulative climate hazards intensified by greenhouse gas emissions

The “human right to climate” involves several “areas of life” rather than specific “living conditions”, precisely because it is projected on a dimension of present-future ecosystem processes and not simply on the immediate emergence of an event. The article, reported here, analysed 3300 climate studies and identified hundreds of negative processes, involving half of the world’s population, grouped into ten phenomena – scientifically proven – cumulatively affecting out of six crucial aspects of human life (health, food, economy, water, infrastructure and safety), in turn interacting in 89 modes. For this reason, there is an inexorably spoken of “cumulative climate hazards”.
